About the Artist
Michèle comes from a rich cultural mix of both French and English parentage which has given her a great love of the landscape of both countries.
She studied Typographic design initially at the London College of Printing and trained as an art Teacher at London University. After several years of teaching art in Further and Higher Education colleges and pursuing her own love of fine art, Michèle was accepted into Wimbledon School of Art and after three years was awarded an MA in Fine Art Printmaking.
She was based first in London and the South of France, then spent a decade in Norfolk, revelling in the wide open skies and expansive beaches. Now living in Cornwall, she is attracted by the rugged landscape, the wild weather and the ever-changing sea.
Her work is informed by a passion for the landscapes and prehistory of the far West of the British and Irish islands, Cornwall, Wales and the West of Eire. Although the work is not always representational it evokes the constantly changing atmosphere and the shapes of the land and rocks which surround her.
